Reasons to Get
A Nose Job
By Ricardo SilvaRhinoplasty is
the modification of one’s nose. There are a number of
reasons you might want to get a nose job.
If you are unhappy with your nose, plastic surgery is
almost worth undergoing. While people are often annoyed
by some part of their body, those with “nose problems”
are more affected. The reason? Well, the position of the
nose is critical. It is in the middle of your face,
which puts it front and center in any communication
situation. For people that are unhappy with the
appearance of their nose, this can be problematic from a
mental point of view. They can easily become
self-conscious about the problem and lose
self-confidence in themselves. If this describes your
situation [be honest], they you should at least explore
the options available to you.
For many people, nose problems did not happen at birth.
Instead, childhood is the culprit. We all skateboarded,
played sports or were just clumsy. For a large number of
people, this meant giving our body a beating. Broken
noses were common among my friends, and you might have
suffered one. For some people, the damage from a broken
nose can leave a hump in the nose. Plastic surgeons are
well versed in the removal of such humps, since it is
one of the common reasons for getting plastic surgery.
Another reason to get a nose job has to do with
symmetry. Well, a lack of it. The body tends to be
symmetrical. Your arms tend to be the same length. The
same goes for your legs. There are, however, exceptions
for this and the same goes for your nose. For some
people, the tip of their nose may be “off”. One side may
be slightly bigger, higher, drop or stick out more. The
reasons can vary, but the cure is relatively simple. A
plastic surgeon can manipulate the cartilage at the end
of the nose to create symmetry.
One of the biggest complaints from people is the length
of their nose. While short noses are mentioned, people
with long noses that seem to overhang their lip are by
far more common. Fortunately, there is a solution. It
all has to do with angles. You can take any object that
has a right angle to it. Now lay it on your upper lip
and compare the rough angle of the end of your nose to
your upper lip. Men want an angle of 90 degrees while
women look better with 100 degrees. With long noses, the
angle is usually smaller, mean 70 degrees or so. A
plastic surgeon can perform a procedure to increase the
angle by removing cartilage. This effectively shortens
your nose and pulls the tip back up towards your eyes.
There are a wide variety of reasons to consider getting
a nose job. Fortunately, rhinoplasty is also a field
where there is a surgical solution for practically any
one of them.
